The Mercantile Hotel

Welsh + Major are currently working with the operators of the Mercantile Hotel and the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority on the next chapter of the life of this iconic hotel in The Rocks. A favourite haunt of The Rocks locals and visitors alike, we are looking to move the hotel on from the ‘Irish feel’ of the existing operation to cater for a more diverse range of clientele. Reinvigorating the original, authentic aspects of the building, the new Mercantile will breathe new life into the Hotel’s existing short stay accommodation and public bar, whilst also providing new bars, a main kitchen, bistro and rooftop function areas.

When complete, the hotel will be a sophisticated, authentic and relaxed venue perfectly suited for the newly revitalised Rocks Precinct.
