The Sanctuary

In 2017 The Hills Shire Council commissioned Welsh + Major with Taylor Brammer Landscape Architects to design and document a series of upgrades to the 100 year old Castle Hill Cemetery.

The 8.2 hectare bushland setting of the existing cemetery will be rejuvenated with new landscape works, walking tracks, parking areas, a new public internment vault, columbarium walls, office building and a new centerpiece, known as the Sanctuary, a sheltered space for people to come together and celebrate the lives of their friends and family in comfort and dignity.
