Sydney Visitors Centre
The Rocks, NSW
The new Sydney Visitor Centre in The Rocks opened in 2017 to provide information on over 200 visitor activities and attractions across Greater Sydney and NSW.
Set in a heritage listed converted warehouse in The Rocks, the fitout is showcases local materials in the bespoke joinery and furniture - 220 Gosford sandstone blocks have been carved and stacked to display brochures in a fluid form that echoes the local sandstone geology; A consulting table is formed from Wombeyan granite; Benches, movable displays and service counters have been crafted from NSW Blackbutt and Spotted Gum. At the centre of the project, a giant backlit state map acts as an attractor to draw in passers by and orientate visitors to the attractions across NSW.
