Fitzroy Terrace

Redfern, NSW

One of seven terraces built circa 1845, this state heritage listed terrace is an example of the Georgian style in Sydney. The alterations to the terrace involved careful removal and reuse of material, experimenting with existing and recycled materials and elements, resulting in rich variation in surface form, colour and texture.

This project was the winner of the 2009 AIA NSW Chapter Greenway award for a heritage building.

The Jury Citation: "Let's hope that in this period of architectural history, where serious debate over architectural heritage is so needed, this house may ignite conversation and change and encourage us to move forward creatively, enriching and continuing history."
